A Sentry alternative built for Claude Code and Cursor

If a coding agent writes most of your code, it should also be the one reading your production errors. Runheed catches exceptions in your Node.js and Python apps and hands them to Claude Code, Cursor or any MCP client, with the agent session that shipped the code. The agent fixes the bug and marks the error resolved with the commit.

Sentry does far more: the largest error tracker, with performance tracing, session replay, profiling and a paid AI debugging agent (Seer). It also has an MCP server. Pick Runheed when the agent fix loop is the job, and keep Sentry when you need the rest.

Sentry details checked 2026-10-27 on their pricing page and MCP page. Full comparison: Runheed vs Sentry.

What you give up

  • Performance tracing, session replay, profiling and release health.
  • Browser and mobile SDKs. Runheed has Node.js and Python SDKs and a JSON ingest endpoint.
  • Team seats and roles: a Runheed workspace has one owner for now (agent keys are unlimited).

Keep Sentry, add the agent loop

  • Keep Sentry for tracing, session replay, release health and the people on your team who read dashboards.
  • Initialize the Runheed SDK next to the Sentry SDK in the same entry file; both run in one process.
  • Point your coding agent at Runheed over MCP. It gets the errors with the agent session that shipped the code, and resolves them with the fixing commit.

import * as Sentry from '@sentry/node';
import runheed from 'runheed';

Sentry.init({ dsn: process.env.SENTRY_DSN });

Or move over

  • Runheed DSNs look like Sentry DSNs but are not interchangeable: install the Runheed SDK and use the DSN from your Runheed project.
  • Calls map one to one for the basics: init, captureException, captureMessage, setUser, addBreadcrumb. setAgent is Runheed only.
  • Past Sentry issues do not move over. New errors start grouping from the first event.
  • There is no browser or mobile SDK yet, so keep Sentry for those clients.
